Common Dashboard Problems and Resolutions

This article helps users identify and resolve common errors encountered when working with dashboards in Navatar.

1. Error: “This report cannot be used as the source for this component…”

Resolution Steps:

  • If Summary or Matrix Report: Ensure the report has at least one grouping field.

  • If Tabular Report:
    a. Click FiltersRow Limit
    b. Set a limit and configure Dashboard Settings

  • Confirm the Running User has at least Read Only access to all grouped/summary fields used in the report.

2. Error: “MISSING LABEL PropertyFile - val SubscribingFromInactiveException_desc”

Workaround:

  • Clone the dashboard and use the new version.

3. Error: “The running user does not have permission to run reports”

Resolution Steps:

  • Click Edit on the dashboard and open Dashboard Properties.

  • Identify the Running User and go to their Profile.

  • In General User Permissions, enable Run Reports.

4. Error: “The Running User for this Dashboard is inactive”

Fix:

  • Replace the inactive user with an active one in Dashboard Properties.

5. Error: “One or more fields selected in the component is no longer available…”

Resolution Steps:

  • Review Custom Summary Formula fields in the report.

  • Go to SetupObject ManagerField-Level Security

  • Ensure all referenced fields are visible to the Running User’s profile.

6. Error: “Results may be incomplete due to too many summary rows…”

Fix:

  • In the source report, reduce the number of groupings or change the grouping granularity (e.g., daily → monthly).

7. Error: “Too Many Dashboard Components”

Possible Causes:

  • Hidden components still count toward the 20-component limit.

Fix:

  • Change layout to 3-column

  • Remove hidden/extra components

  • Return to your desired layout

8. Error: “Can’t save dashboard with incomplete components”

Fix:

  • Ensure all components have both a Type and a Source Report.

9. Error: “Source report isn’t available”

Fix:

  • Share the report’s folder with the dashboard’s Running User.

10. Error: _“Data Not Available” when clicking a component_

Cause:

  • Dashboard folder is shared, but the source report folder is not.

Fix:

  • Share the source report folder with the user.

11. Error: “Please have your administrator enable at least one dashboard…”

Fix:

  • Grant the user access to at least one dashboard folder.

12. Error: “Unable to run source report because its definition is invalid”

Fix Options:

  • Remove Filter Logic

  • Modify Profile to access the hidden field

  • Update Field-Level Security for access to all filters/groupings

13. Error: “Can’t load component because the source report didn’t finish running”

Cause:

  • Performance issue

14. Error: “Sorry to interrupt: This page has an error…”

Fix:

  • Rebuild or edit and re-save the affected report in Classic Builder.

15. Error: “Unsupported report type”

Cause:

  • Sorting a measure when the report has over 11,000 grouped rows.

Fix:

  • Change or remove the grouped field or use a different sort field.

16. Error: “The component can’t be displayed due to unavailable filter fields”

Fix Options:

  • Add the filter field to the report

  • OR remove the component/filter from the dashboard

17. Error: “Invalid number of layout components”

Workaround:

  • Delete and recreate the affected component.

18. Error: “Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getAssetsPath')”

Cause:

  • Dashboard creator is now inactive

Fix:

  • Have an Admin replace the creator with an active user.
