Install Data Loader

This article provides a step-by-step guide for Navatar admins to install Salesforce Data Loader. It covers prerequisites like installing Java JRE, downloading the Data Loader zip file, extracting and running the installer, and launching the application for use.

You will need to log into your Navatar system using the admin login

Step 1: Install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 17 or later for your operating system, for example, Zulu OpenJDK version 17 or later for windows. When you open the link, you will land on the below page.

Step 2: From here, click on the first option for the Windows (.msi). And the below file will be downloaded. (Check downloads folder of your computer).

Step 3: Open it and a pop up will appear. Click on ‘Next’.

Step 4: Browse the location where you want to install this file and click ‘Next’ and then click Install. After the installation is completed, click Finish.

Step 5: Paste the following link in your browser and download the most recent version of Data Loader: https://developer.salesforce.com/tools/data-loader.

Step 6: Click “Download Spring ’24 Release for macOS and Windows (v60.0.2).”

Step 6: A zip file will be downloaded into your system. (Check downloads folder of your computer).

Step 7: After the download is completed, open the zip file and select Extract All. Select the destination where you want the files to be extracted and then click on ‘Extract’.

Step 8: After you have extracted the files, find and open the installation file. Locate and run the install.bat file.

Step 9: Specify a directory for the Data Loader installation. Overwrite the contents if there’s an existing Data Loader directory.

Step 10: Just type ‘Yes’ and hit enter to all the prompts. Now, you will see a Data Loader icon on your Desktop as well as your task bar. To open Data Loader, use the Data Loader desktop icon, or find it from the Start menu.
